Project description
Ranti is the first coffee school in the Galapagos, located in San Cristobal. It is a space dedicated to the training of new professionals in the world of coffee. As part of a farmers’ cooperative called Asosamogal, Ranti is an organization where producers can sell their coffee at real prices, along with participate in related events and activities.
Travelers visit a coffee farm and learn about the production of coffee from beginning to end, including a professional tasting session that allows them to sample a cup of coffee grown and produced in the Galapagos Islands.
Involvement of V Social
V Social began partnering with Ranti in 2023, working to generate higher quality products and bring in tourists. By offering technical, administrative, and financial support, V Social has helped Ranti access markets and improve its tourism products, as well as providing training and connections to other community organizations in the VSF network.

May 2024
We conducted a three-day marketing training session with two representatives from each of the six supported community projects from various regions of the country. With this, we aim to support the internationalization of the community projects. This initiative addressed a key need voiced by the Community-Based Organizations in our network during last year's V-Conecta, our first in-person gathering of Latin American organizations in Colombia. Topics included economic development, market segregation, sales skills, sustainable tourism practices, and cultural, natural, and heritage resources. We covered travel expenses, food, and participation in the marketing laboratory held in Yunguilla, Ecuador.

Country: Ecuador
This project is important for training new generations in coffee production. As the Galapagos is far from continental Ecuador, specialized education is very expensive. The Galapagos Coffee School, a Ranti project, brings the appropriate technology to the islands, as well as academic knowledge and experience in the field to train new professionals in the different areas of coffee production.
This offers an economic alternative to locals, which in turn improves their quality of life. Through tourism, the people of San Cristobal have a new employment opportunity, which at the same time gives value to rural communities and makes visible the local agro-ecological practices of the Galapagos. So far, 20 families have directly benefited from this project, and several more have been indirectly impacted.
